This week we finished Unit 5 in math on Geometry. After vacation we will begin our next unit which will be looking at problem solving with penguins. It will wrap with us learning about 2 other penguins. As a precursor to learning more about penguins, we watched "March of the Penguins" this week.
In Fundations, we wrapped up Unit 9 on closed syllables. When we get back from vacation we will start Unit 10 which focuses on blended 5 sounds in closed syllables.
In Writer's workshop, we continue to work on Informational text chapter books. We have created table of contents and talked about other types of writing we can add to our books like lists, and how to pages.
Today we said good-bye to Carole Chamberlain who has worked in our classroom all year in the afternoons. She has decided to retire. She shared this news with the class today. We wish her all the best!
I hope everyone has a wonderful break and if you're traveling to somewhere warm, please bring back some warmth:)
Have a wonderful vacation,
Nancy
