This week, on Tuesday, the class shared their recycle projects with Miss Colleen. Student groups decided who would take the project home on Thursday and that person brought it home.
On Thursday we had a special visitor from the Audubon Society. He came in and talked about owls and shared 3 live owls. I'd like to thank Liz Rider and Shelly Henson from the Pre-K program for arranging this for us. They decided to ask him to come in to go along with our Hands on Nature theme which was on Forest Birds. We learned that the owls at the Audubon Society are birds that were injured and can not be let back into the wild because of a handicap they have. The owls we saw today had wings that were not working properly and one of the owls had lost an eye. The students had great questions to ask about owls in general and about the owls we saw. We saw a Bard owl and two Eastern Screech owls. Check out the photos below:
Just a note that there will be no homework sent home on Friday because of the vacation. The next packet of homework will be sent home on May 1st.
Next week is our Spring Vacation. I hope that everyone has a wonderful and restful break.
Nancy:)
