On Monday, we came in to the classroom with new table spots. Hopefully your child shared with you who the new friends are that they are sitting with.
In math this week we have been working with dominoes. We are using structure to help us identify how many dots are on the domino. We played Domino Top Draw which is a lot like the card came war where the children drew dominoes and whoever had the highest number won the dominoes. They also had to explain how they figured out how many dots were on there dominoes. We also played a game where we drew dominoes, identified the number on the domino and the corresponding equation that matched it. Then they had to circle if the number on the domino was greater than, less than or equal to the number on their partner's domino.
In Reader's Workshop we have been quietly reading, we began reading groups this week and the groups picked a name for their group, and we have been practicing our handwriting.
In Writer's Workshop we are continuing with our Small Moment Stories and have been working on stretching out our words when we are spelling them so we can reread our stories. We also talked about zooming in on a story so that it is not as big as a "watermelon" story but is like a watermelon seed story.
In Fundations we are practicing tapping words out so that we can read them. We are also practicing tapping out words to help us spell them.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Nancy
