Thanks for 2 Great Years!

Firefly did not let all the rain keep us from a fun filled last week of school.  We enjoyed theme days filled with games and activities.  Today's Friday Folder included your child's progress report, a cd of a powerpoint of photos I made for each child, and a gift from me.  Others who asked for it, received a booklet of summer activities to work on.

I wanted to let everyone know how much I enjoyed teaching and getting to know your children these last 2 years (for some the last year).  You have wonderful children who I hope continue to strive to do their best through the years of their education.  They have grown so much both academically and socially.  They are all ready for 3rd grade.  They were a wonderful class and I will miss them very much!!!

Have a wonderful summer!

Best,
Nancy

A Thank-you from Mrs. KillKelley!

Dear Firefly Second Grade Families,

Thank you for the Barnes and Noble gift card, clip board and beautiful potted plant with gardening gloves.  The plant looks so pretty on my deck and I have already put the gardening gloves to good use.  It was so thoughtful of you to think of me.

It has been such a pleasure to get to know your children over the past two years and so much fun teaching them social studies and science.  They have grown so much in the past two years.

Have a terrific summer and best of luck to all of your third graders!

Sincerely,

Mrs. KillKelley

Summer Math Ideas

Week of June 3rd

It was terrific to see everyone at our team picnic Wednesday night. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for the beautiful herb garden and the Barnes and Noble gift card.  What a special gift.  Your children also wrote me poems and special notes that were lamented into cards I can save forever.  They were lovely.  I special thank-you to Anna Palmer for organizing the gift!

Alicia shared her Discovery table on ballet this past Monday.  She had some great illustrations and explanations about ballet and spoke about her experience being a ballerina.

Today we had some visitors from Voyager come and share books that they wrote, illustrated and then bound together.   The class really enjoyed listening to these 4th and 5th graders reading their stories and then explaining the process of making them.

Please make sure your child wears his/her T-shirt to school on
Tuesday, June 11th for the K-2 Field Day.  The week of June 10th
will be Spirit Week for us.  Monday will be "Wacky Hair Day", Tuesday will be "Be a Reader Beach Day", Wednesday will be "Board Game Day" and Thursday will be "Backwards Day".  Friday, June 14th is the last day of school.  It is a half day with an 11:30 dismissal time.

Please check this week's Friday Folder for a summer reading list and reading log from Barnes and Noble.  Once they read 8 books and record them in the log, they can return it to Barnes and Noble for a free book from the list.  The class was very excited about this.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Nancy
