I see, and I remember.
I do, and I understand.

Week of May 13th

This week we started a new unit in math. We are working at problem solving in the real world and how we use math in the real world. We will be solving lots of real world problems as well as working more with money and thinking about when we might use money.

In literacy I have been doing our final assessments in reading. Everyone is doing a terrific job and has really grown throughout these last 2 years. It has been a joy to watch them grow as readers. Next week we will be reading some Reader's Theater to the class.

In science we learned about problems that apple tree farmers have and how they were able to solve those problems without pesticides. We talked about integrated pest management systems and agricultural engineers. Ask your students about them and how these solutions are more beneficial to people and our world.

Today we had our evacuation drill. Everyone did a super job! We followed the procedures of a fire drill to begin with and then walked over to the Field House. Then we walked back to our original spot outside of the school and then were allowed back into the school. We were able to do the whole drill in 45 minutes. A success!!!

Next week is the 20th Jog-a-thon. The class is looking forward to this. Please send your child in with sneakers, appropriate clothing and a water bottle.  Please also put sunscreen on your child before they come to school.   Keep your fingers crossed for good weather!

Have a wonderful weekend, Nancy
